So many people are interested in how to become more successful as Voice Actors. It is a process, not easy, and the field is crowded. It takes time and there is no way to get rich quick. But if you are willing to stick with it over time, here are some good resources to grow and find financial success with this craft.
If you want to be successful, find good coaches. You must learn how to act, perform professionally and market your VO business. One of the best places to start is with the VO Journey's Elite Academy: https://www.avosjourney.com/a/13362/rZwAPnqT
You will need a Digital Audio Workstation. We call it a DAW. One of the best is Audacity, a free DAW. Lots of established Voice professionals start with it and eventually upgrade. Yet, others find it enough for their needs and stick with it thru the years. Free download: Audacity ® | Downloads (audacityteam.org)
Did you know that there are about 90 words in a :30 second commercial? Or that one finished hour in an audiobook averages around 10,000 words? Most Voiceover projects are word-based, meaning that very often we charge by the number of words in a script.
This is the industry standard when it comes to timing the number of words in a script. Script Timer & Words to Reading-Time Calculator for Voice Actors | Edge Studio
Your studio is very important if you want to get work. Your microphone is NOT as important when starting out. Mics are like shoes, not every one fits your voice. Start modestly and grow as you learn your mic style. You should spend more on your studio environment because an expensive mic cannot make up for crappy studio sound treatment--in fact it will make it sound even worse.
